Arc Raiders Patch 1.3.0 Nerfs Venator Pistol and Deadline Mine Following New Map Meta

Embark Studios has released Patch 1.3.0 for Arc Raiders, delivering a targeted balance and economy overhaul across all platforms. The update is primarily a response to new player behavior and balancing issues exposed on the game's latest map, Stella Montis, particularly concerning two highly effective items: the Venator pistol and the Deadline mine.

Stella Montis, which features dense, enclosed environments, quickly became the community’s favored "PvP map," highlighting imbalances in certain gear when used in close-quarters combat.

The Venator Pistol Nerf

The Venator pistol, which had become overpowered when fully upgraded, was the target of several specific adjustments aimed at curbing its domination:

  • Rate-of-Fire (RoF) Reduction: Upgrade gains to the Venator’s fire rate are now significantly slower.

  • Increased Weight: The weapon’s weight has been increased sharply, moving from two to five, making it a heavier commitment for loadouts.

The Deadline Mine Changes

The Deadline mine, which proved essential for trivializing tough Arc enemies like the Bastion, Leaper, and the Queen, has been hit with major availability and cost nerfs:

Change Type Pre-Patch (Example) Post-Patch Impact
Availability (at traders) 3 1 Drastically limits access per run.
Purchase Price Low Greatly Increased More expensive to buy.
Crafting Cost Standard Increased Component Requirement More difficult to craft.

Global Explosive Damage Tweaks

Beyond specific items, Embark Studios implemented a global change to explosive damage. The developer noted that explosives were incorrectly applying damage to multiple armor segments simultaneously on large Arc units, trivializing high-health encounters.

  • This change ensures that larger enemies, such as the Bastion, can now withstand more explosive damage before their components are destroyed.

  • The Hullcracker weapon, a previously top-tier explosive choice, has been indirectly nerfed as part of this overall systemic change.
